As I said in the other post, I really like the 4th edition rules. Some of the things I think WoTC should keep from 4th edition is the “Four Defenses” structure, as opposed to requiring saving throws. I think that they should try to keep the non-spellcasters interesting to play all the way up the experience level chart. I don’t really want a return to the Vancian magic system, but I understand it has nostalgic appeal. The wizards should, I think, have greater access to spell use, so that they don’t cast their one “Magic Missile”, then pull out the crossbow for the rest of the fight.
They say that they want to incorporate the best points of all previous editions, which sounds nice. They certainly should try to support the previous editions. I’m glad I was able to procure all the necessary books and products for years of 4e gaming goodness–I just recently purchased Mordenkainen’s Magnificent Emporium. 4E also got me interested in the “Old School Renaissance”, so even when I burn out on 4e (unlikely), then I have free resources for a different style of play. Of course, there’s also my own ruleset (see the “Game Rules” tab, or go here to purchase: https://www.createspace.com/3675333 )
